I love the seasons! Something about welcoming change every few months refreshes the soul. FALL is my favorite!!! From the beautiful colors on display in the trees, to the transition of cute boots & cadigans to outdoor fun. Football, chili, pumpkins and the excitement of the kids with Fall Breaks, cute costumes and Halloween Trick or Treat.
I love that a simple pumpkin, a few leaves and burning a fall scent can change the whole mood of a home. As far as the outdoors – the spider webs on my porch and crunchy leaves just add to the mix (or at least I tell myself that). Seriously though, Fall Decor can be such an easy peasy transition and it can last through Thanksgiving. Yes Please!
Set your budget because bottom line ~ We can only do what we can do! and when we leave out that important step the finished result is not as satisfying. Trading your peace for pumpkins – just isn’t practical, so let us find a few good pieces that you can reuse, recycle for different seasons and even sell when your tired of them.
Think dollar stores, thrift stores and even a friends hand me downs. I have passed on so many great things to my adult children because well after 28 years of marriage you tend to get an attic full, especially if you are sentimental like I am. That’s a different post! I can give you ideas and eventually I will, especially showing examples with our inventory but for now, I will say go to Pinterest and see what makes you feel all warm & cozy. Copy it. However, stick to your budget. Get creative.
Paint, fabric, bags of beans, glass jars and even your recycled cans can be a great fruggle start. From the outside, keep it simple & of course inviting ~ it is the threshold from the outside crazy world to the welcoming inside of our cozy, comfortable and chaos free home. Anyone else laughing in their head? or is it just me! Okay, not sure homes are ever chaos free but they sure do have the ability of establishing just a little extra special touch.
One thing I love seeing, is how my daughters create special little vignettes in their own homes. It was never discussed but I can tell that they take great satisfaction in creating a home that shows all who enters – guest or family, that they enjoy the seasons and they love creating a home environment that brings a little happiness to the ones they do life with. Maybe I’m over reaching, but I think that is a trait I passed on (one that I’ll take credit for publicly, lol). They also brag about their savings… YES! now they get it! the more frugal the better and no one cares where it came from – new, used, hand me down, created, 1 dollar or 100 – it is what you are creating.
So set your budget. If you are ready for newer pieces, bless someone else with yours. Get some construction paper and twine… skies the limit. Rather you do spooky creepy Halloween or bring in the nature of Fall or WHATEVER your creative side is… HAVE FUN! & Show us your pictures!
